Cycleland Speedway Releases 2018 Outlaw Kart Schedule; 24 Nights of Action Packed Racing on Tap
Cycleland Speedway has released their 2018 race schedule and is set to host 24 nights of action filled racing for the Outlaw Karts. As Northern California’s Premier Racing Facility the pits are sure to be filled throughout the spring and summer months.
The season will begin with a practice day on Sunday March 25th beginning at 2:00 PM. This will give drivers and teams the opportunity to feel out their karts and shake off the cobwebs of the winter months. The first race of the season as always will be the Annual Jim Shirley Memorial Race on Saturday March 31st. The start time for the first four races of the season will be 4:30 PM, we will then switch to a 5:30 PM start time for the remainder of the season.
We will be racing nearly every weekend from April 7th (Points Race #1) through September 22nd (Awards Night). The only weekends we will be taking off will be Saturday May 5th (Bradway Memorial @ Silver Dollar Speedway), Saturday May 26th (Memorial Day), Saturday June 30th, Saturday September 1st (Outlaw Kart Showcase), and Saturday September 8th (Gold Cup @ Silver Dollar Speedway).
Some of the big events this season include the doubleheader weekend on July 6th and 7th. Those races will take place on Friday and Saturday night. Over the last few seasons we have held a doubleheader on that weekend and it has worked well. The QRC Cup Perpetual Trophy Night has been moved back in the season. That will now take place during Points Race #19, our second to last points race of the season. The Outlaw Kart Showcase is back again in 2018, the race is scheduled to take place on Monday September 3rd and Tuesday September 4 this year. More information on this race will be posted later in the season when it becomes available. The final event of 2018 at the Cycleland Speedway will be a Non-Wing Exhibition Race paying $1,000 to the winner for the Open Class. Non-Wing races have been popular over the years, and it is a great way to end the season.
The rules, and points system will be released soon, once they have been finalized we will make them public as well. Keep in mind this schedule is tentative and may be changed at any time. We are looking forward to a great 2018 race season, and we can’t wait to see you out at the racetrack when the season gets underway.
