Michael Helwig has been near perfect in 2017 so far. He now has 8 Main Event wins in 10 starts and has yet to finish off the podium. He kept the streak alive on Saturday as he notched another win and extended his already large points lead.
When the Green Flag flew it was Mike Moore who made the big time move on the start to take the lead and lead the opening lap after starting in the second row. Michael Helwig though was able to get by him on Lap 2 and that was all she wrote. Once up front it was no looking back for Helwig as he led the charge en route to his 8th win of the season. Matt Peacher, who picked up a win earlier this season, finished in the second position. Brian Seim recorded his sixth top five finish with a third-place effort. Kody Hunderman finished in the fourth position. While Mike Moore faded back to finish in the fifth spot. Nick Carrico was the Hard Charger of the Main Event as he started dead last (15th) and finished in the 9th spot, an improvement of six positions.
The night began with 15 karts signing into the pit area for the night’s action packed event. Brian Seim scored his third Fast Time in four races and second in a row with a lap of 10.965 seconds in his Brian Seim Designs #20S kart.
Heat Race competition saw Kody Hunderman score his first Heat Race Win of the season in the one and only Heat Race behind the wheel of his K&K Motorsports #8K kart.
Trophy Dash competition saw Brian Seim score his first Trophy Dash Win of the season. Brian is always one of the best guys in the pits to stop and talk to. He always has something positive to say and has one of the best personalities at the racetrack. It’s always good to see him do well.
Thru nine points races Michael Helwig holds a commanding 143-point lead over second place driver Leana Kenyon. Shawn Fogarty sits third on the charts, 149 points out of the lead. Brian Seim currently sits fourth in the standings. He is 175 points out of the top spot, while Kody Hunderman rounds out the top five in fifth. He sits 197 points out of the lead.
